Taken from the Biblical name Ephratah,
meaning "fruitful", this community was founded
in 1732 by German Seventh-Day Baptists of the
famous Cloisters. Today Ephrata is the "Hub
of Commerce" in northern Lancaster County's rich
Penna. Dutch farming country.
